On Friday, March 7, 2025, Columbia Law School will host a panel discussion and reception to celebrate the launch of What Might Be: Confronting Racism to Transform Our Institutions, the latest book by Professor Susan Sturm, George M. Jaffin Professor of Law and Social Responsibility and Director of the Center for Institutional and Social Change.
The event will bring together alumni, advocates, and changemakers to engage with the book’s central themes—navigating the complexities of racial justice work and reimagining institutional transformation. The panel, featuring Martha Minow, Anurima Bhargava, Elz Cuya Jones, and Alejo Rodriguez, will explore the challenges and opportunities in making meaningful change. A breakout brainstorming session will follow, allowing attendees to reflect and share their own insights on advancing full participation in an increasingly challenging sociopolitical landscape.
The event is not only a celebration of Professor Sturm’s book but also a catalyst for future action, inspiring attendees to engage deeply with the paradoxes of systems change work.
