Marc Ramirez is a Court Attorney for the Honorable Ralph Wolf of Bronx Criminal Court, and a 2016 graduate of the City University of New York (CUNY) School of Law, with a focus in Social Justice, Equality, and Civil Rights. Graduating from law school was the culmination of decades of hard work, answered prayers, and a dream born in the law library of a federal prison. While in college, Marc was arrested for drug charges. The outcome of that case was an almost twenty-year sentence for a non-violent, first-time, drug offense committed at 18 years old. While in prison Marc vowed that he would not let the time kill him or his spirit. He did everything he could to better himself and his surroundings. Since his release Marc has continued to help others, graduated from college and dedicated his legal career to the public interest.
He started his legal career at the Bronx Defenders Office representing people accused of various crimes from arraignment through resolution of their cases. He then moved on to the Office of the Pardon Attorney, where he wrote reports and recommendations on clemency petitions to the Pardon Attorney. He moved on to the Legal Aid Society Parole Revocation Defense Unit representing people on parole or post release supervision who are accused of violating the conditions of their release. Most recently he accepted the Court Attorney position where he researches and analyzes legal issues to assist the judge in administering justice.
Outside of work Marc’s volunteer activities include mentoring students entering or returning to college after interactions with the criminal legal system; training with people in recovery to run the NYC Marathon; guiding students entering law school; mentoring law graduates through preparation for the bar exam; and coaching people through the character and fitness process of bar admission.
