Anne Cordova O’Connell graduated in May 2022 with Honors with a B.S. in English and a concentration in European Intellectual History at Columbia University’s School of General Studies. Anne is the recipient of the Rene Plessner full-ride scholarship, the GS Service award, is a member of the Honors Society, and was on the Dean’s List.
In addition to being a full-time student, Anne is the Admissions Coordinator for the Justice-in-Education Initiative. She also interned for the Prosecutor Accountability Project, a non-profit organization committed to fighting absolute immunity, and she was a paralegal for Frederick P. Hafetz, a white-collar criminal defense lawyer specializing in trial.
Anne is now a 3L at Columbia Law School. She has interned in a trial bureau of Manhattan District Attorney’s Office. Anne was also an editor on The Human Rights Law Review where she worked with a team reimagining and rewriting The Jailhouse Lawyer’s Manual (JLM). Anne is currently helping co-author the JLM chapter on "Rights of Youth in Prison" and "Your Right to Not Be Illegally Body Searched."
Starting May 2025, Anne was a summer associate for Kirkland & Ellis and has received a return offer where she will work in their restructuring group. For her final semester of law school, Anne has been accepted to study abroad in a program focused on corporate law and finance at the University of Oxford.
She is not only devoted to helping people who are seemingly left behind, but Anne has also volunteered extensively for Animal Nation, a wildlife sanctuary that rehabilitates sick animals. Anne is a percussionist and an artist and has performed in groups such as the Judy Dworin Performance Project, Avodah’s dance ensemble, and opened for Earth, Wind & Fire at the Greenwich Town Party.
